December Photo Fun Workshop: Snow, Ice, & Twinkling Lights

The theme for December's photo fun course was snow, ice, and twinkling lights.  Although we didn't have much in the way of snow or ice by the time our workshop rolled around, we were still able to give tips and examples of cool pictures that can be created in the winter, like this one using a net of Christmas lights:

For our activity, we sorta recreated the picture above.  We had a net of Christmas lights that we shot through and showed how distance from your lens creates the soft look of glowing lights that adds interest, depth, and bokeh to photos.  We also experimented with indoor snow (or torn newspaper in our case).  We set up our own photoshoot and had people take turns throwing snow in front of our model (one of our student's who's camera batteries died) while others took the pictures.  I'm telling you, we know how to have fun with photography!
