February Photo Fun Class: FOOD!

Theme: Food

We had so much fun at this photo fun class.  We had a potluck snack food party and our class members all got to snap pictures of the food and then eat it!  Additionally, Steve was there to help people make the transition from their cameras to their devices for editing.  We learned tips from the Pioneer Woman, a food blogger and TV personality that I absolutely love.  After looking through a couple of her cookbooks for inspiration and taking a tips from her blog, our students set to work crafting their own food photos.  The compositions were tantalizing!

One of our students, Shaylynn, shared these 3 tasty photos from our class on Facebook.

I love this photo!  The light bouncing off the face of the orange and strawberry make them look soo juicy.  I also love the different angles of all the orange wedges and the texture.
This was a cool idea, to use the wrapper as part of the composition.  It added a pop of color and offered some cool textures and angles.
This shot has a sliver of focus landing on the furthest the edge of the cookie. The tiny ridges really show up well against the creamy white milk in the background.

It may not surprise you that half our students that day said that this was their favorite photo class to date. I'm not sure if the Oreos had anything to do with it or if it was just my charming smile.  Nonetheless, I love food photography and I think we've got some students with sweet tooths!
