January Photo Fun Workshop

Theme: Music

January was a nice month to stay inside and snap some pictures of instruments!

I brought a music stand, some music, a red ukulele, a silver flute, and a music box.  After we discussed several tips on taking interesting photos of music and composition, we split up and took 10 minutes with each instrument for the students to practice composing their photo as well as using manual camera settings.  Everyone came away with cool photos!

The following photos are some of the examples from our student Lily.
Don't you love the way the rays of light pouring in all around the music box makes it almost feel like it's playing music?

One of my favorite things about this photo composition is the lines and the color contrast!

I love the flute on this shelf.  The light and the window above it is casts a soft glow upon the instrument, almost as if it is inviting you to come and play.

Light and shadow work together in this photo to add dimension to the keys of the flute.

If you missed the class and you're wondering what kind of music photography tips we went over, here's a look at our worksheet.
