Country Photoshoot with the Peterson Family

We have beautiful country all around us in Utah, and the weather this time of year couldn't be better for a family photoshoot.  This young family of 5 came ready with their boots, belt buckles, and big grins.  We took photos of all the kids individually, then a few of the kids grouped together, then family poses, and finished with a couple photoshoot.

Let's start with the littlest, shall we?

This cute guy is strong and fast for being just a little over a year old.  He was a really good smiler, too!
The tall grasses glowed around him, and the patches of shadow made for a natural heart-shaped frame.
I love how his blue eyes just sang to the camera.
And his cowboy getup was adorable.  Take a look at those little boots nestled next to his daddy's!

Next up, we photographed his older brother who loves wearing his cowboy hat.

His mom wanted to have a few pictures without the hat, too, and either way he was willing and easy-going.
He, too, was so darling with his showing off his belt buckle!

Then it was their older sister's turn! She has a great smile and she was so willing to share it with us anytime we asked.

She even had her own pink cowgirl hat to match her pink glasses.

And the glowing clusters of grass wrapped their soft golden fronds all around her.

And of course, since the 3 of them were so cute individually, putting them all together in a picture was a triple treat!

And we brought out a little fun with the rocking horse!

Next, we moved on to the family photoshoot. We found a little niche next to a tree that filtered the sunlight for us and also illuminated the fall colors in the background.  Luckily there weren't any of those annoying (and painful) burrs near there.  We found that those nasty weeds had a way of hiding themselves until the kids came near, then they'd hook their barbs into every fiber of their denim and we had to pick those spiky things out of their clothes before we could move on.  I suppose that's all a part of the country life, though.

One of the first family photos we shot actually had everyone looking and smiling at us all at the same time, which is a small miracle with young children.
We decided to try one of them sitting down, and by this time the kids were getting wiggly and weary of posing.
We got a few more shots with some nice smiles, but...
my favorite was the one where the real emotion was front and center!

To round everything off, we pulled the mom and dad aside for their own couple photoshoot.  If you know this couple, you know how friendly and sweet and down-to-earth they are.  I love that you can see their love for each other in this setting.
She has a favorite pose of her hugging him from behind in a wedding picture of hers, and so it only seemed fitting to recreate it.
Then we had them take a loose dance position for a few last shots just as the sun was beginning to set.

Aw, how romantic!

We were so privileged to get to spend some time with the Petersons.  They are a wonderful family and you can see the love they share and the fun they have together!  We wish them all the best in their upcoming move!
P.S. I love fall leaves!
